Job description 

The teacher we are looking for will be working with developing the MYP Swedish curriculum and progression at ISLK, promote Swedish as the host language and inspire our students to explore and acquire Swedish.  It is a benefit if the subject of Swedish can be combined with either Spanish/Maths or English.

The position will start on August 6th 2024 and may start with a probation time of 6 months. After the agreed period of time the position will be turned into a permanent position if agreed by both parties.

The working language and language of instruction at ISLK is English.

In this position you will:

• Teach Swedish to different student groups
• Collaborate and provide planning following the IB MYP curriculum model, using an inquiry conceptual-based approach in teaching and learning in the subject of MYP Swedish language  acquisition, Svenska som andraspråk
• Work in alignment with the standards and practices of the IB MYP framework
• Role model the IB Learner profile, mission statement, and the school vision
• Be a mentor for students in a specific year group
• Perform other related duties as assigned  

Qualification and experience

• Certified and trained Swedish language acquisition (Svenska som andraspråk) teacher
• High proficiency in English: fluent in speaking, reading and writing
• Experience of working with inclusive practices/inclusive education
• Proven strengths in collaboration
• Demonstrated leadership skills in the classroom
• Previous IB MYP teaching experience
• Proven experience using and digital tools to enhance learning opportunities
• Excellent collaborative, organizational and communication skills  

Desired qualification and experience

• Experience of working in a multicultural and multilingual community 
• IB training
• Previous IB MYP, DP or PYP teaching experience
• Certified to teach other subjects 
• Knowledge of other languages
